I like the discussion on the “what do you do?” dilemma. (I usually go the Tim Ferriss route and start by saying “I’m a drug dealer”.)
Oh, and the quote is awesome! Even as a major advocate of proactivity, Parkinson’s law is probably my favorite productivity hack. Urgency is magic.
Calvin: “You can’t just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood.”
Hobbes: “What mood is that?”
Calvin: “Last-minute panic.”
This episode was my absolute favorite. Nick was amazing with his story. I love the advice he received when he immersed himself in learning about internet marketing. I can so relate, in my haste to dive into everything, I was stuck in learning mode. And the advice of “pick one and take massive action” is stellar. Definitely how I’ve moved forward and this episode just validated I”m on the right track.
PS) Michael your singing is high-larious!!!! “Secret Lovers” – that’s a legit 80’s slow-jam! hahaha! Keep the 80’s references coming because they rule 🙂 Thanks for this amazing episode –
Fail Forward Fast…..wow. This was brilliant. Find one thing and do massive action….double wow. This bloke has blown the “Imposter” mode that I have out of the water. Who am I to think that I can do this? Why would someone pay me to do this for them when they can get it for free? Beg to get this man back on here. He spoke in down to earth terms that are actionable.
@disqus_omrnRmnVl6:disqus, don’t worry…we are pals. He’ll be back soon. 🙂
Great, GREAT, GR8 episode. Key messages were so relevant and its so wonderful that Nick is willing to share and be generous with his knowledge.
Michael, you are killing me with the 80s hits. Last week, you sang Bill Withers “Just the Two of Us” and now Midnight Stars “Secret Lovers.” I was screaming laughing and so appreciate being educated, entertained and enlightened at the same time.
Hey @jerenellis:disqus, I’m glad you dug it. I literally can’t listen to those songs without singing along. It’s hilarious.
Can we please have less of that law of attraction BS from “The Secret”. It really is demeaning and offensive.
Hey @disqus_SAznaAQIYC:disqus…everyone believe what they believe! If it works for someone, that’s perfectly ok in my book. I’m sure whatever you use to motivate you and keep you in the game is great too!
Hi Lex, I have a totally open mind to most things, and I think what you are missing from “The Secret” is that its a simple case of knowing what you want, and then working towards it. If you know that you want a car for example, it doesnt just appear over night like magic. You have to work really hard to get it. But you then have your focus, which is far easier to achieve the final aim than not knowing what you are after. Thats my belief in the matter, but im sure there are lot of people who are really into “the Secret” bigtime. Anyway in regards to the podcasts, its an open and freeflowing conversation between Michael and his guest. So if this is the way that they roll, and they believe that it is for them, then how can you say its offensive. You wouldnt want a conversation that isnt truly honest would you??? Live and let live I say, and what we hear we listen with an open mind and take what we want from it.
One of my favorite episodes, Michael (thank you). It seems like all of the rockstars are in San Diego (you, Nick, John Lee, Pat Flynn, and I think Amy Porterfield). Although, it is weird to hear a Philly native saying the word “rad”. Don’t say that the word when you come back to Philly (please remember)…lol.
