Did you know 91% of the people on the planet have a mobile phone? And 50% of those people use their mobile phones as their primary resource for the Internet. It’s obvious your content needs to be mobile-friendly. I quickly realized, after seeing his presentation at NMX…that I didn’t have my ducks in a row as it pertained to mobile marketing. and online business.
And to talk about the best practices for mobile marketing, I welcomed Greg Hickman to the show.
Greg has deep roots in mobile marketing dating back to 2005. He saw the early success and the potential from the early days and he’s been on the mobile marketing path ever since, including building his own text message marketing company.
In episode 62, Greg deepens our understanding of the value of mobile marketing from SMS messages to mobile-friendly web sites. We talk about:
- Just how important it is for you to create a great first mobile impression of your web site.
- The questions you must ask yourself before making your web site mobile-friendly.
- 70% of Coca-Cola’s mobile marketing budget is spent on text message campaigns – why that matters to you and your business.
- The ninja tactics you can apply right NOW on Instagram.
- 90% of text messages are read within three minutes: true or false? Why the answer impacts your business.
You’ll hear all of that and so much more in this jam-packed episode.
And Greg has graciously offered to buy a Solopreneur Hour t-shirt for one lucky Soloist! To be considered, leave a comment below outlining one action you’re going to take as a result of something you heard in this show. Be sure to include a link to your web site. Greg will pick one lucky winner and buy them a T-shirt!

Let’s see it my friends. Who wants a t shirt? Leave a comment with one thing you’ll implement from today’s show!
I am just realizing that I have only barely even considered mobile issues. I was a very late adapter as far as mobile phone tech – i didn’t understand why people paid for something that barely worked in the early days. I now have an iphone and love it most of the time – time to get with the program. Will be checking with my web person and doing some strategy this week. My site is http://www.morethanorganized.net – I want a t-shirt even though I don’t look well in yellow – and yes I know it’s a contrasty decision.
I’m going to do a bit of an experiment and borrow friends’ phones (various screen sizes) to see if the plugin I’m using makes my site look good on all devices! Great show guys. OH, and my site is generosityphilosophy.com
Awesome, Kim. Love the action
Kim, you’ve been selected to win a free t-shirt! I’m buying it for you! What size are you?
Really!?!? Wooo whoo! Thanks Greg-how generous of you. I prefer the fit of men’s tees and will happily wear size medium. I’m sure I speak for all of the soloists when I say thank you for the value you shared on the show! I truly appreciate your kindness in offering to hook me up with a shirt. I’m so thankful I was the lucky winner!
Really!!!! You were the lucky winner and I had a blast! Will you send your contact info to Mike? You can use the contact form.
Im somewhat of a new blogger and I luckily liked a WP theme that happened to be mobile. I had no idea what responsive meant. I thought it could’ve meant like social where there were several options for readers to respond. HAHA. I’m definitely going to look more into text messaging and I DEFINITELY need to start a mailing list even though I feel like I’m not experienced enough. http://Www.JayonPark.com
P.s.
Thanks for the IG ninja tactics
You’re experienced enough Jayon.
I recently realised that I am a 1%’r who takes action on a daily basis….I was quite proud of this fact. I now find that I am a 9%’r who doesn’t own a mobile phone, or has any plan to either. I love to be able to disappear and not be contacted by anyone if I choose to.
However I agree totally with the mobile factor being applied to websites, and this is only going to get bigger, as I can see my Grandson who is not yet three using his tablet, and downloading apps as I type this. I think this is a key episode of the solohour, that will have us coming back again and again to read and listen. We would be fools not to.
Hey Greg, Thanks for the awesome information. I will be checking out your site and contacting you for recommendation for a WP Theme for my first BLOG. I’m all about imperfect action these days.
Awesome Marcus! Look forward to it!
Great, great show….mobile info overload but awesome! Hey guys quit playin’ and get your I’m unemployable t-shirt. I want to wear mine and the 14 of us who have ordered a t-shirt won’t be able to until we get to 50 🙂
Alrighty, so I don’t have a website. Yet. But the action I’ve (already!) taken is to bookmark the WordPress Touch Pro link that the lovely Lara has included in the show notes. That way I’m ready to go mobile right out of the box! Very a propos… b/c just this morning I got feedback from my Parent Association peeps that they’d rather get 4 separate, short promo emails over a few days instead of one longer email with all the deets together. Why? Cuz everyone’s consuming that content on their phones – and a longer email that used to be ok will now get ignored b/c it appears too long. Clearly you now have to think of *everything* from the mobile perspective…
